FACILITY TRANSITION & MOVE MANAGEMENT

Strategic Hospital Resources assembles a concept driven schedule detailing the department order and timeframe of the move. We will graphically portray the allocation of manpower and other resources. The SHR Planning Team will provide the facility with a project assessment that discusses how to build your transition team, training issues, and in-service education.

During the initial meeting, SHR will learn how many departments will move and familiarize ourselves with old and new departments in addition to determining transit for all relocating items. SHR will then follow up with a meeting including departmental managers and project managers to determine the optimal move date and time for each department. This planning is vital to prevent downtime for patients, staff, and other departments that co-exist.

After the initial meeting and walkthrough, SHR will examine the project schedule for items to be relocated and prepare a detailed phasing schedule for the move. In this process, SHR will confer with vendors, general contractors, and the project manager / owner's representative.

When the transition's schedule plan draft is presented, it is reviewed with the department heads to closely define schedules and times, and to understand any conflicts that may occur between departments.

The initial transition plan anticipates vendor equipment installs, public relation events, and patient transitions. We ensure there is a dear understanding between the general contractor, vendors, biomedical engineers, and plant operations as to who is responsible for removal of existing, for new and existing installation, and checking of equipment for the project. Communication installation needs will be discussed.

Relocation
First of all, using a professional company that is well versed in handling medical equipment, computers, and furniture is the single most important loss prevention item for the relocation. Theft and damages are reduced significantly vs. using employees, friends and family members, contracted staff, labor staffing companies, etc. Second of all, creating and implementing a color-coded packing and tagging system for all items relocating not only provides an inventory of items, it will limit the amount of equipment, computers, and furniture that end up within other areas of the facility, or find itself in a lost and found area.

SHR will be your partner in this crucial phase of your project to allow a smooth transition into your new facility and the delivery of patient care.
